Analysis of Diction
Kathleen Parker in the article, " A blueprint for the changing the way we talk about race," claim was that she thinks people should reconcile together. The purpose of the article is to get people to join together and reconcile. This is intended for everyone, because she wants everyone as a community to join together. This is in result of the AME shooting in Charleston, South Carolina. This article is effective in using diction to convince everyone of joining together to reconcile. The author was very deliberate with her word choice. She chose words that were very descriptive and had exaggerated meanings to them. For example she repeated the words Americans. The effect it had was that the victims were citizens and they died on their own soil to domestic violence. Other words that were used was hideous, parishioners, and authentic christian faith and it shows how much of a tragedy this shooting was. The word choice connects to the tone, because overall the author wants everyone to come together and reconcile over this terrible tragedy. |
