Analysis of Syntax
Kathleen Parker in this article "Syrian refugees deserve freedom from slaughter" claims that she believes the refugees should be allowed to escape the terror they are faced with. The purpose of this article is to show people that Syrians are being killed in large quantities because of the Islamic caliphate and they deserved to be freed from this. It also points out how people don't have morals or sympathy because they would rather let all these people die, because of the fear they have. The intended audience are people who don't want the refugees to come over into the states. This is in the result of the Paris shooting and the large amount of Syrian refugees. This article is effective in using syntax to convince the people who don't want refugees to come over, that these refugees deserve to be free from being slaughtered. For syntax the author used shorter paragraphs to assert her opinion about the problem at hand. She used longer paragraphs to show what the political officials and presidential candidates would do to solve the problem. The contrast or opinions furthers the author's point that these people have any morals or sympathy; they are only being selfish. My thoughts on this is that I think the immigrants should be allowed , because we already have a problem here and it's not them, it's domestic terrorism. So I feel that these people deserve to be alive and happy like everyone else around the world.
